In a world where there is so much conflict, and increasingly so, it is understandable that we may feel hemmed in, surrounded, by drama.
In this state the insignificant irritations and challenges of our everyday become magnified, taking on a dramatic significance of which they are unworthy. Unwittingly or unintentionally we may be adding to an already febrile and conflicted climate.
What’s needed, instead, in service of a better, more peaceful, stable and light-filled world is detaching from this drama and bringing a more open-hearted presence to how we are and move in the world.
Yes, it’s easier said than done, yet we must persist. If we can step away from ruminating unhelpfully on our small concerns and allowing our personality to construct doom-laden scenarios, we will be shedding some of the mental load that plays out in negative thoughts, words and actions.
And having laid down at least some of this burden we can start to open our hearts to our fellow beings, to consistently extending kindness, compassion and understanding to ourselves and others.
In the light of the heart some of those things that look so taxing are suddenly seen in right and less significant proportion – as things to be dealt with, not overwhelmed by. More important, the light of our heart is unobscured, shining forth in our presence and illuminating a different way for others.
