Choosing to ripple

Start Reading

Against the immensity of world events setting our own intentions to serving a greater good, to the building of a better world for all may seem inconsequential and, perhaps, rather pointless. We may question how, as one person, we can make any positive difference to the state of our world, to influencing it for the better.

Yet we can take into our reflection the words of Mother Teresa: ‘I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.’ And so we can set ourselves, each day, the intention of creating our own ripples for good, for positive change.

This may be in the quality of our thoughts and the quality of the words we choose to express them, infusing them with love rather than something less positive.

It may be in choosing to extend kindness to all we meet. In our daily decisions we may make a tougher choice in the path to action rather than taking the option that gives us an easier life. We may bring our intention for a better world into meditative practice each day and, in doing so, join with many others making a similar commitment.

Each of these choices, and many others, we can make with conscious intention and, little by little, our ripples in service of good grow and grow.
