The courage to continue

Start Reading

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”

Winston Churchill

Churchill’s words feel like a useful reminder of what’s needed for the times, indeed any times, we live in. He led a nation through the darkest of days, calling into service the hearts and courage of his people.

And in our current world situation, we can see dark times playing out around us, affecting many members of the human family.

Shifting this paradigm, affecting change in the world, may seem beyond us as individuals—our opportunity to influence can feel minuscule in the sweep of national and global events.

Yet we will all have found the courage to continue in our lives when facing challenges and setbacks—drawing on this essential quality of heartfulness.

So imagine if we directed the power of our hearts — the courage, love, compassion — outwards, beyond our immediate, intimate circle to the wider human family, consistently. And imagine if we lived this way collectively: the power of many hearts combined, in resonance and in service of the greater good.

We’d be contributing to creating a field of loving and courageous energy that moves us to right relationship and right action and would enable the building of a better world for all.
