We don’t have to search hard for incredible acts of heroism. Those who put themselves in harm’s way for others. Protesters against brutal regimes. Aid workers in conflict zones. Green innovators battling climate change against pretty large odds. National leaders stepping up and in.
There are many examples – the grand and the very individual. You will surely have your own.
What binds them is belief, optimism, faith that better is coming/being created (that their efforts are with purpose) and, of course, courage. Qualities of the heart.
How great then that we can all take heart, bring our heart into the action? In our unique and different ways. Stepping into our own form of heroism, drawing on our heartful courage, optimism, faith – whatever confronts us. Whether it is personal or on a more global scale.
We can access and nurture our heartful qualities in deep reflection. Quietening down the noisy world, the issues facing us, to listen to our heart. To hear its wisdom. To draw inspiration from its courage. And to engage with our challenges differently…more determined, more creative, more resilient.
When we look at the challenges of our world waiting for some other ‘hero’ isn’t the option. Hiding likewise.
But we don’t need to don a cape. We have the superpowers we need. We can take heart, our heart, and draw on its power every day to build the better world we want. We can do this.
